Esther Imard

Born in January 2000, the artist spent her childhood surrounded by the world of theater. She entered the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Paris in 2018, and was successively trained by François Boisrond, Djamel Tatah and Bruno Perramant. Following in their footsteps, she embarks on a figurative approach.

Just as the figure appears on photographic film thanks to light exposure, and the spotlight enables the actor to emerge from the shadows onto the stage, her painting is understood as a work on light. A quasi-nothing, matte black background forms the basis from which she develops the representation.

Like a snapshot, her oil paintings are intended as simple presences, moments in life, with no pretension of reconstructing a narrative from them. Shielding these presences from a pre-constructed narrative, she wishes to preserve the freedom of interpretation for those who see them.
