Illya Goldman Gubin
I G G is a Berlin-based atelier founded by Illya Goldman Gubin. Breaking binaries between thinking and feeling, science and mysticism, tradition and innovation, Gubin’s installations emphasize the complexity of human consciousness. The artist transforms everyday perceptions into multi-layered reflections, inviting viewers to reflect and feel.
In Karton, Gubin presents a selection of works that extend his resin experiments into functional design pieces. Resinated cardboard structures are stiffened to become familiar childhood seats, merging utility with nostalgia. These reinforced objects, evolved from 2020 prototypes, achieve structural integrity through playful experimentation.
Resin and fiberglass techniques bring childlike imagination to life, transforming cardboard – typically associated with transience – into domestically stoic furniture. This transformation challenges perceptions: what once contained now supports, blurring lines between interior and exterior, past and present.
This artist is represented by CØR Studio, a unique creative space in central Paris offering a minimalist setting for various events. Functioning as a gallery for Collectible Design, it hosts temporary exhibitions showcasing innovative artists and objects with bold styles and exceptional craftsmanship.
