The encounter from the winter of 1994 and marked the photographer’s career until the sculptor’s death in 2006. When he first enters her home-studio in the heart of Brooklyn, he discovers a place inhabited by the presence of this unpredictable and mischievous woman, with whom he eventually forms a precious relationship of trust. With infinite discretion, he enters the sculptor’s lair, revealing a home that becomes a self-portrait.
In his series of artist portraits, Jean-François Jaussaud has also immortalized the painter Claire Tabouret in the midst of creation in her Los Angeles studio. This renowned French artist reveals a flamboyant personality under the photographer’s lens. The superimposition of images capturing her oil paintings and moments of creation forms a captivating dialogue between the genesis and the completion of the painter’s work.

Born in 1961, Jean-François Jaussaud is a French photographer and artistic director. His photographs have been published in several international magazines over the past thirty years. Visiting artists’ studios, his images capture the essence of lives dedicated to creation.
