Lionel Jadot
Lionel Jadot is a Belgian artist, designer, interior architect and film-maker. His work is characterised by its variety and playfulness. He is a pioneer in the reuse of materials, embodying the spirit of “upcycling” and pushing the boundaries. His latest furniture pieces are made from old VHS tapes, gigantic stones and discarded fabrics.
Recently, the designer and his team, Atelier Lionel Jadot, won acclaim for their renovation of the former headquarters of the Royal Belgian Air Force, now known as the ‘Mix’, in Brussels. They designed its hotel and food market, in collaboration with numerous Belgian designers and craftsmen.
Lionel Jadot is also the founder of Zaventem Atelier. Situated in a former factory, this space brings together artists’ studios, enabling them to work in a spirit of emulation and collaboration. Its members regularly take part in group exhibitions and joint design fairs.
The Inventaires chairs are made from solid beech. The name alludes to the history of this piece of furniture, which was commissioned in 1987 by the French playwright Philippe Myniana. He asked Jadot to create a unique chair for a production of his play “Inventaires”, in which three actress play on a stage with a minimalist scenography.
