Zarah Landes

Zarah Landes’ artistic practice is characterized by a unique fusion of different media, including photography, painting, and textile design. Her work often explores the interaction between light and shadow, drawing inspiration from theatrical scenography and the concept of exposure in photography. Her innovative technique defines her practice, involving the creation of object impressions using a canvas saturated with ink through a process of tensioning the medium with the chosen object (a chair, a tripod…).

Her color palette tends to favor black and white, in connection with black and white photography, or vibrant colors whose nuances she enjoys exploring. Her red work, titled Chair in reference to the object that left its imprint, embodies an almost organic dimension in its blood-like hue.

Zarah Landes’ work frequently incorporates patterns, symbols, and textures, reflecting her interest in the tactile qualities of materials and the memory of shapes. Her artistic process involves a delicate balance between the concrete and the abstract, often starting with real objects or scenes to transform them into more conceptual pieces that invite viewers to explore the boundaries between physical presence and artistic representation.
